ATTORNEY PROFILE

Immigration Attorney, Barbara Erlandson has been practicing exclusively in the area of immigration law since 1999. She speaks Spanish.

Barbara represents individuals with immigration cases at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, U.S. Consulates and Embassies throughout the world, the National Visa Center, the Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the Administrative Appeals Office.  She assists individuals with I-485 applications for adjustment of status to Permanent Residence ("green card") through marriage and other family members, I-751 Petitions to Remove Conditions on Residence (including waiver and late-filed petitions), N-400 Applications for U.S. Citizenship (naturalization), waivers of the J-1 visa two year foreign residence requirement, immigrant visas for spouses and other family members, I-129F Fiance Petitions, K-1 and K-2 visas for fiance(s) and dependent children, and U visas for crime victims. 

She has processed applications for temporary status and work authorization through the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure programs.  She also helps victims of domestic abuse obtain permanent residence through the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and individuals from Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala obtain permanent residence status through the Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA).

Barbara received Bachelor of Arts degrees in Management and Spanish from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN. During her junior year of college she studied in Madrid, Spain. She graduated with honors from the William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota.  During law school, Barbara clerked as an intern at the Immigration Court in Bloomington, MN. She also worked as a law clerk at Centro Legal in St. Paul, MN and a law firm in Minneapolis, MN.  Prior to attending law school, Barbara worked as a Desk Officer and Assistant at the Peace Corps headquarters in Washington, D.C. for five years and she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica from 1988-1990.
